The Career Pause and Pivot
Have you been made redundant and want to spend a little time pondering what’s next? The Career Pause and Pivot is for anyone who has doubts if they are on the right career path, or who has found their world thrown upside down by redundancy and would like to take some time to really consider what to do next.
Almost everyone has doubts about their career at one time or another. For some of us, these come and go. We have them one day and the next week they are forgotten. Many of us, however, continue to wonder if we are on the right path. Could we be doing a job with more meaning, or finding something better paid?
The Career Pause and Pivot is about taking time to consider our lives and what we really want from them. When we are working, so much time is spent with our noses to the grindstone, bringing in the cash, dashing for the train, queuing for coffee and just getting on with it. It’s hard to find time to take a deep breath, let alone a proper re-evaluation.
The Career Pause and Pivot process has been created by career coach and psychologist Paula Gardner of The Redundancy Recovery Hub. It looks at your career and job from many angles, taking an inventory of your needs (and that’s not just financial). Does your chosen career fulfil them? It may be that you are on the right track but things need shaking up a bit. Or you could be dreadfully unhappy and seize upon the opportunity to prepare for change. It might be that you’ve been contemplating a move for years, but done nothing about it.
The Career Pause and Pivot is about to change that.
